晚明的思想界极为混乱,各种思朝杂然纷呈。在所有思潮中,实学思潮则是主流。关于实学思潮的理论渊源及其流派,笔者已曾作过初步的探讨,在此不赘。在这里,笔者要提出另外一个观点,即晚明的实学思潮除在理论上体现为“明体适用”与“王霸并用”之外, 其理论内涵决不仅仅止此。稍加概括,以下四种都可以算作晚明实学思潮的具体内容:(一) 尚武精神;(二)“实心”任事的精神,又可称之为“愚愚”精神或“认真”精神;(三) 从“性理之学”转向“物理之学”;(四)治学朴实,讲究实用。本文将就尚武精神作一探讨,以就正于同行。
