Hippocampal area serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NA) can nerve endings arranged closely. This anatomical relationship suggests that 5-HT and NA systems may have pre-synaptic interactions. Feuerstein and Hertting of the Federal Republic of Germany investigated the effect of 5-HT on the basal and the electrical stimulation-induced release of ~ 3H-NA in rabbit hippocampal slices.
