Arthur Dando was described by Art News magazine in the United States as “one of the most thought-provoking and challenging art historians of our time.” In 1984, Arthur Tando wrote two highly inciteful Sexual Papers. One is “the end of art philosophy,” which deals with the historical occupation and control of art by philosophy and calls for the restoration of the power of art itself. The second is “the end of art,” which borrows the Hegelian philosophy and holds that art must eventually come to an end once it has acquired self-awareness. During the 15 years after its publication, “The End of Art” was unanimously criticized by various authorities, theaters, and the critics of the art historians in various conferences, publications and books. However, the article entitled “The End of Art Philosophy” has hardly been questioned.
