该品种通过10余年的母树和子代多点鉴定选育而成。具有早熟、优质、早结、丰产等特点,9月下旬果实可着色六成以上,可溶性固形物达9~12%,固酸比为11.5~15.4:1,比早熟种“宫川”提早成熟10天以上;由于可提早上市,能增加产值20%以上。平均单果重160克,皮薄,厚度为0.22毫米,果形扁圓,端正,果肉橙红色,质地脆嫩,化渣,风味浓,甜酸适度。3年生树可普遍进入结果,5年生即可丰产,亩产达1500~2500公斤,最高可达4000公斤。该品种已在上海、湖北、浙江等8省引种栽培,并于1988年通过湖南省农作物品种审定委员会审定。
