叠音词在中国古诗词中很是常见,对于古诗词中的情感表达、人物刻画、环境塑造及事物描写起到了很大作用。不仅如此,叠音词的声音美、韵律美也为诗词的整体表达增光添彩,使人读来朗朗上口、颇具回环往复之势。由于英汉语的差异,在将中国古诗词英译的时候,如何保持叠音词的音美、形美、意美就显得相当重要了。许渊冲先生在古诗词英译方面做出了杰出贡献,取得了极大的成就,他译文也堪称经典。在此,笔者主要通过研究许渊冲先生的译文,也研究了其它一些知名译者的译文,对于古诗词中叠音词的英译提出了自己的看法,并做了一定的总结。
Polysyllabic words in Chinese ancient poetry is very common, for ancient poetry in the emotional expression, characterization, environmental modeling and description of things played a significant role. Due to the differences between English and Chinese, it is quite important how to keep the sound and the beauty, the beauty and the beauty of the double-syllable words when translating ancient Chinese poems into English. Mr. Xu Yuanchong made outstanding contributions to the English translation of ancient poetry and made great achievements. His translation is also a classic. Here, I mainly study the translations of Mr. Xu Yuanchong, and also study the translations of some other well-known translators. I put forward my own views on the English translation of the double-syllable words in ancient poetry and make some conclusions.
