The author made a one-year dietary assessment of 47,913 cases of 40 to 75-year-old health professional males with cancer in the United States in 1986. Diets were evaluated using a valid semi-quantitative esophageal frequency questionnaire. After 6 years of follow-up, 205 new cases of colon cancer were confirmed in this group.
