Trichoderma harzianum is one of the most well characterized and commonly used species in plant disease bio-control.In contrast, T.gamsii has only recently been identified and there is limited knowledge of its disease suppressive potential.Comparative studies on changes in gene expression during their interactions with plant pathogens will provide fundamental information on mechanisms of pathogen antibiosis. In the present study, we used cDNA amplified fragment length polymorphism (cDNA-AFLP) analysis to investigate changes in transcript profiling of T.harzianum LTR-2 and T, gamsii Tk7a when they were individually challenged in vitro by plant pathogenic Rhizoctonia solani and Pythium irregulare. In total, 737 potentially differentially expressed transcript-derived fragments (TDFs) were identified and isolated.Ninety six TDFs were selected for further analysis, based on fragment size and changes in expression intensity.Cloning and DNA sequencing identified 41 individual TDFs, 23 originating from LTR-2 and 18 from Tk7a.
