The rapidly growing interest in the area of proteomics induces intensive efforts to find robust, automated and sensitive high-throughput analytical tools.One of the key advancements in rapid protein identification is peptide mapping, with the proteolytic digestion of the protein under study followed by separation and sequencing of the resulting peptide fragments.A powerful technique used for the separation and identification of peptides is high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS-MS).
