The effects of simulated future ocean acidification on feeding behaviors and energy metabolism of the brown crab Cancer pagurus were examined.Following seven weeks of pre-acclimation to normal CO2 level (360 μatm),crabs were exposed for four weeks to projected oceanic CO2 levels (1200 and 2300 μatm,two weeks,respectively) before being subjected to a normal CO2 levels (390 μatm) for two weeks,i.e.,a recovery phase.During the whole experimental period,including recovery phase,stand metabolic rate (SMR),specific dynamic action (SDA) and feeding behaviors,were determined and observed at each experimental period,i.e.,initial normal CO2 level (360 μatm),high CO2 levels (1200 and 2300 μatm) and recovery CO2 level (360 μatm).
