Ecdysteroid hormones ecdysone and 20-hydroxyecdysone play fundamental roles in insect postembryonic development and reproduction.Several cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (CYPs), encoded by Halloween genes, have been documented to be involved in ecdysteroidogenesis in Diptera, Lepidoptera and Orthoptera.We describe here the cloning and characterization of five Halloween genes (Lscyp307a1, Lscyp306a1 , Lscyp302a1, Lscyp315a 1 and Lscyp314a1) in the nymphs of Laodelphax striatellus, a hemipteran insect species.
