In recent years,despite the progression of seminar-based teaching in Chinese universities,defects remain in the pre-seminar preparation and post-seminar developmental communications between teachers and students.In addition,the lack of normalization in the conduct of seminars has also contributed to the barrier in front of seminar-based teaching in Chinese universities.In this regard,this study attempts to apply virtual network learning space to assist in seminar-based teaching activities and to help the teachers and students in pre-seminar preparation and post-seminar summary.The paper starts with the four elements in seminar-based teaching activities,i.e.,seminar materials,topic selection,participants and tutors,analyzing the methods of designing seminar topics and selecting seminar materials.Subsequently,the paper divides seminar-based teaching,based on the development process of learning,into three stages,i.e.,pre-seminar preparation,seminar process and postseminar communication and summary,in an effort to explore every element of the seminarbased teaching activities to formulate a complete teaching scheme.Finally,taking,for example,Philosophy of Educational Technology course,the practical of seminar has been carried out by “QQ Group”.The study suggests that the seminar-based teaching activities described in this paper are of reference value given their practicability.This study is intended to provide a new path to the research of seminar-based teaching in China,in an attempt to overcome the obstacles in the development of seminar-based teaching.
