Gestational Diabetes (GDM) rates have increased dramatically over the past two decades.Sunshine Hospital is located in a poor socio-econonmic area of Melbourne, Australia.All pregnant women attending our facility are screened for gestational diabetes with approximately 15% positive.The increasing incidence appears to be related to the increasing levels of obesity, older maternal age and migration of high GDM risk nationalities.
