To compare the chemical composition of volatile oils in herbal pair Flos caryophylli-Wenyujin extracted by different polar solvents,petroleum ether,ethyl acetate,and ethanol were used in this work.The essential oils were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) [1,2].With the help of chemometric resolution method,the two-dimensional data of the overlapping peaks obtained were resolved into a pure chromatogram and a mass spectrum of each chemical compound.Different polarities of the solvents extraction of essential oils were distinct in chemical composition and relative content.44 compounds were identified in petroleum ether extraction,and the major components were Eugenol (67.38%),Caryophyllene (3.4%) and Hentriacontane (6.07%).28 compounds were identified in alcohol extraction,mainly composed of Eugenol(67.12%),Caryophyllene (10.66%) and 3-Allyl-6-methoxy-phenol (14.66%).In ethyl acetate extraction,41 compounds were identified,mainly composed of Eugenol (70.73%),Caryophyllene (8.16%) and 3-Allyl-6-methoxyphenol (9.4%).It is further demonstrated that the volatile components of herbal pair in number are almost the addition of that of two single herbs but changed in contents.
