When decision-making involves pre-determined paths,more important than any power consideration,it is imperative for multiple tests to respect such paths.This presentation shows how the partitioning principle of Hsu and R.Berger(1999)for testing null hypotheses in a pre-determined step-wise fashion naturally leads to the Decision Path Partitioning principle of Liu and Hsu(2009),for path-respecting multiple testing.
