Chlorophenols, including pentachlorophenol (PCP) have been widely used as wood preservatives, and pesticides/herbicide precursors.Furthermore, they can also be found in the effluent streams associated with the pulp and paper industries.Due to the high toxicity and hard biodegradability of these compounds, they have been long regarded as a major source of environmental pollution [1].
