Complex biological functions are performed through interacting molecules connected in larger networks. However, the effect of network architecture on evolution of individual components remains poorly understood.Studies on nucleotide variation within networks have shown that the positions of genes in the network can affect their selective pressures. In this study, we performed a network-level molecular evolutionary analysis of the two well-characterized innate immune pathways: Toll and Imd across Drosophila genomes.
