The isotachophoresis (ITP) not only belongs to the group of the caopillary electrophoresis (CE) techniques,but also is a powerful preconcentration method which can focus the trace analyte in the complex matrices[1-3].Although ITP is firstly studied by Kohlrausch [4] in 1897,it still attracts wide interesting of separation scientists,and there are over 2400 articles on the subject.Most of the works falls into the classic ITP categorieswhich is developed from the moving boundary system (MBS) [4-6].And recently,a novel ITP which based on the moving reaction boundary (MRB) [7-10] was advanced.The aim of the manuscript is to present the two ITP methods which respectively based on MBS and MRB,and compare the differences between the two ITPs from the following aspects: the model,the equations,the ionic roles,the motions,the complex formation,the separation mechanism and the principle of stacking.
