Increasing physical activity is a key element in the treatment of individuals who are obese and in the prevention of weight regain in those who have successfully lost weight.Fifty women (mean age 42.3 ±7.8 yr) who were overweight (BMI >28.3 kg/m2) were matched and randomly placed into either a control group (n =14),a diet-only group (n =17),a diet aerobic endurance exercise training group (n =19).After 6 months,the two dietary groups demonstrated a significant (P ≤ 0.05) reduction in body mass index.
