Objective: Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) is one of the most common salivary gland carcinoma with poor prognosis and frequently metastasizes to distant organs, especially to lung.We previously reported that the expression of epiregulin, a novel member of epidermal growth factor family, was 350-folds higher in the higher lung-metastatic cell line SACC-LM than in the lower lung-metastatic cell SACC-83 by transcriptomic microarray analysis.Here, we aim to explore the role of epiregulin in the migration and invasion of SACC through overexpression and knockdown of epiregulin in SACC-83 and SACC-LM respectively.
