Wolbachia are common intracellular bacteria in various kinds of arthropods and filarial nematodes.As reproductive manipulators, they can alter hosts population structure in diverse ways, including inducing parthenogenesis.Wolbachia has been detected in several collembolan species, and proved essential for egg hatching of the diploid, parthenogenetic species Folsomia candida.However, the knowledge of Wolbachia in Collembola is still insuffcient, and more molecular markers should be used for better genotyping of Wolbachia from Collembola.
