West side of Central California is one of the typical salinization areas in the world.Agricultural drainage water containing naturally high levels of salts and other elements like boron(B)and selenium(Se)has been posing serious risks to the aquatic ecosystems.Constructed wetlands(CWs)which are eco-friendly and cost-effective will be a potential technique for treating this drainage water, provided that a both salt and B tolerant wetland plant is explored and applied in CWs.The objective of this study is to assess the potential use of two hybrid poplar clones(345-1R & 347-14B)in wetlands for treating saline water high in B and Se.
