Metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) is a phenomenon that occurs because of the interaction of fluorophores with plasmon resonance from metal particles such as gold and silver, resulting in an increased fluorescence emission.Recently, by using these metal particles, MEF has received great deal of attention as a new platform in biomedical fields because fluorescence has become the dominant detection/sensing method. In order to intensify the signal a substrate with larger surface area is needed.
