Chemical functionalization of graphene is an important strategy to tune its properties and to increase compatibility with matrix materials.Graphene can be functionalized either through harsh oxidation by H2SO4/HNO3 [1] or through organic reactions,such as radical addition [2],nitrene addition [3],cycloaddition [4-6],halogenations [7,8],and Diels-Alder reaction [9].We report an efficient reaction between pristine graphene and benzonitrile catalyzed by Fe(ClO4)3(Scheme.1).
