Posttranslational modification of proteins by lysine acetylation plays important regulatory roles in living cells.Cyanobacteria are one of the largest groups of bacteria and are the only prokaryotes capable of oxygenic photosynthesis. However, the extent and function of this modification in Cyanobacteria remain largely unexplored, thereby presenting a hurdle for further understanding the regulatory roles of acetylation in this organism.
