For any chiral drug candidate, its enantiomer can produce different pharmacological, toxicological, metabolic, and pharmacokinetic properties.United States FDA Guidance infers that control of enantiomeric impurities is critical in pharmaceutical manufacturing.High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods are most widely used for chiral analysis of pharmaceuticals.However, most chiral HPLC methods suffer from lower efficiency, leading to relatively broad peaks.If the pharmaceuticals lack a strong UV-Vis chromophone, chiral HPLC is not a practical choice for routine analysis.Chiral capillary gas chromatography (GC) is a practical alternative to HPLC which combines the advantages of high efficiency, sensitivity and reproducibility.
