Ascites is one of the main causes of mortality in fast growing broilers,which is induced by cardiac output imbalance and pulmonary vascular remodeling.Genistein,a member of the isoflavone family,can inhibit vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMCs) proliferation,decrease vasoconstrictive factors excreted by endothelial cells,prevent pulmonary vascular remodeling and finally reduce vascularature-related disease in mammals.
