To consider the environ mental impacts of energy resource exploitation,this paper establish a new emergy-based method for estimating the energy return of investment (EROt) that can capture the essence of energy resource exploitation (EmEROI).EmEROI treats environmental impacts and labor as a particular form of energies,and all kinds of energy can be quantified by solar transformity expressed emjoules as the common unit.
