The aim of this paper is to quantify the effect of shale gas investments on economies and employment creation in four Chinese regions.The Chinese government has announced an ambitious shale gas extraction plan,which requires significant investment.This has the potential to draw investment from other areas and may affect the whole Chinas economy;however,no studies to date have quantified these effects.In this paper,input-output analysis has been utilized to estimate the economic impacts and employment creation in four different Chinese regions.
