Background: To explain the "C-value paradox" and "G-value paradox", biologists have presented so many genome complexity factors separately1-4 that their relationships become more and more complicated and confused, and its unclear if there are any rules governing the representation of these factors at certain states to form organism complexity. To make the relationships among these factors more clear, for the first time, we categorized them into three generalized groups, including the diversity, complexity, and novelty of gene/products, and explored how the three groups of factors are utilized during embryonic development. This study will give a new view for the relationship between evolutionary and developmental processes, which is a fundamental question in evolutionary developmental biology.
