Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) represents a worldwide cause of mortality and morbidity which is frequently underrecognized and undertreated.Given the global ascent of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as a cause of significant mortality and morbidity, new approaches to treatment are warranted. With the accelerated advances in new technology, endovascular treatment methods for these conditions gain more acceptance, given their minimally invasive character and improved performance. At the same time, significant challenges have arisen, given anatomic complexity and variable pathophysiologic manifestations in different arterial territories. The current presentation will focus on endovascular approaches to treatment, and especially new methods and novel devices for treating challenging arterial beds, among others the superficial femoral artery (SFA), renal arteries and potential new therapeutic applications in the management of resistant arterial hypertension.
