We examined cortical plasticity in addicted human subjects and rats following Meth selfadministration(SA).We identified impairment of plasticity in both potentiation and depression directions in motor cortex. In addition, the motor learning behavior is disrupted in both SA animals and human addicts. The results support the psychomotor theory of addiction and the spiral theory of addiction(dorsal striatum recruitment in prolonged drug exposure).
