China-Africa cooperation has developed significantly after the end of the cold war. There has been a closer cooperation between China and African countries on bilateral trade and investments in the past but this trend has been strengthened since 2000 through agricultural co-operation,trade and other commercial activities.Chinas agricultural cooperation has as well increased over the past few years. The Forum on China-African Cooperation(FOCAC)was officially formed in the year 2000 at its first ministerial conference in Beijing with the objective of strengthening cooperation between China and Africa under and jointly meeting the challenges of economic globalization and seeking common development. This review focused on(1)Historical background of China-Africa relations(2)Recent development on China-Africa relations(3)Level of Agricultural Performance in Africa and in China(4)Agricultural Cooperation between China and Selected African Countries based on Food Aid,Technology, and Trade(5)Analysis of Potential Impacts on China and Africa. The most striking information from the review indicates that China and Africa stand to mutually benefit from the window of opportunities arising from Chinas recent rapid economic development and Africas vast agricultural and natural resources in general. The Chinese intend to cooperate with Africa to aid African countries to develop their agricultural capacities which will mutually benefit both parties.Chinas fast growing presence in the Sub-Saharan Africa in the last few decades has given her the security for the supply of energies and raw materials from Sub-Saharan Africa.China has also gained income due to the large market Africa provides and its abundant natural resources.Africa has gained much from cooperating with China in the sense that it has increased its capital stock, created employment, made available affordable goods and there is as well a potential transfer of technical know-how.However there are few challenges regarding the Sino-Africa relationship which needs to be addressed. These challenges range from lack of transparency amongst government officials, difficult land acquisition processes in Africa, poor working conditions for Africans working in Chinese multi-lateral companies. In summary,Sino-African relations s expected to end up being win-win cooperation. However this could be achieved only if both parties identify the current bottlenecks and concertedly make efforts to turn the current challenges into opportunities.
