Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs), a subclass of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs), have emerged as a new type of crystalline porous materials displaying unique and highly desirable properties from both zeolites and MOFs, such as high surface area, crystallinity and unimodal micropore structure. Thus, ZIFs have been intensively studied and have found potential application in gas separation, gas storage and catalysis.
