Objective The incidence of metabolic bone disease (MBD) is increasing.There is no gold standard or valuable biochemical markers for the early diagnosis of MBD.Finding a new method which is a no-ionizing, convenient and portable is desirable.The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the role of ultrasonic backscattering technology in assessing cancellous bone status in newborn infants by analyzing the relationship between the ultrasonic backscatter characteristic parameters and gestational age, birth weight, length, head circumference, gender, age and serum biochemical markers.The ultrasonic backscatter parameters include backscatter coefficient(BC), apparent integrated backscatter coefficient(AIB) and the mean of the backscatter difference spectrum(nMBD).
