An extension of the energy-phase method is presented for ascertaining the existence of multi-bump orbits homoclinic resonant bands in a class of four-dimensional near-integrable nonlinear systems. These multi-bump orbits have several groups of consecutive pulse interspersed with slow stretches near hyperbolic manifolds. This is a typical singular perturbation problem with two different time scales so that the extended energy-phase method is an effective tool to study the multi-time-scale chaotic dynamics for nonlinear systems.
