Background: Type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus (DM) is thought to be a risk factor for thromboembolism (VTE).Elevated plasma levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) are associated with DM.However, the role of PAI-1 in the development of DM-associated VTE is poorly defined.Aims: Our aim was to determine the role of PAI-1 in the DM-associated VTE, and to test the hypothesis that inhibiting PAI-1 promotes venous thrombosis resolution.
