Highly ordered macroporous cobalt oxide thin film with a regular array of spherical pore with diameter of 1μm was prepared by electrochemical deposition through polystyrene spheres self-assembled template on ITO glass.The electrochromic performance of cobalt oxide film was investigated in 1 M KOH by means of transmittance,cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) measurements.The cobalt oxide thin film annealed at 150°C exhibits a noticeable electrochromism with reversible color changes from pale yellow to dark grey and presents a relatively high optical modulation of 31% in the visible range,with the coloration efficiency calculated to be 33 cm2 C-1.Additionally,fast switching time of 3s is achieved in this film.
