Objective:Summarize clinical features and severity of obese patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),explore the impact of obesity on the response to systemic therapy in SLE.Methods:The study included 103 cases of SLE patients.Collect and record relevant informations, measure body mass index and assess their disease activity using SLEDAI.Results:The rate of overweight and obesity(31.3%)in SLE patients is high, but there is no obvious difference in average ages, gentle proportion, and courses of disease between the normal weight group and overweight or obese group.Overweight or obese SLE patients have more hypertension(34.4%),but no higher rate of rash, fever, photosensitization, dental ulcer, serositis, arthritis, nephritis, hematologic system, nervous system and digestive system involvement than the normal weight group. The levels of ESR,CRP,C3,C4,fasting glucose,TG,Chol,LDL,HDL are indistinguishable increased in these two groups, but the proportion of anti-dsDNA antibody in overweight or obese group(53.1%)is lower than that of normal weight group(73.2%).No obvious difference in the SLEDAI score, time to recover, daily average changes in SLEDAI score, doses of glucocorticoid, daily average doses of glucocorticoid, usage of cyclophosphamide and hydroxychloroquine is found between the two groups. Conclusions:No obvious impact of overweight or obesity is found on the severity or response to systemic therapy in SLE patients.
