Background:Obesity is associated with unfavorable changes in adipokine expressions,which might participate in insulin resistance and atherogenesis,and interact with matrix metalloproteinases in the process of atherogenesis.This study was set out to explore the relationship between the protective adipokine,adiponectin,and circulating MMP-9/TIMP and their associations with walking performance and arterial stiffness in elderly Chinese population.
