Cardiovascular morbidity and mortality is a major burden in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery.About 100 million adults worldwide undergo noncardiac surgery annually which translates into 1 million patients worldwide experience perioperative cardiac death, nonfatal MI, nonfatal cardiac arrest or heart failure.Numerous investigations have described the relation between patients characteristics and the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcome.Over the last few decades, researches and studies have been focused on identification of high risk patients.Perioperative extensive studies then focused on the high risk groups in order to minimize perioperative cardiac morbidity and mortality.
