Previous reports indicated that human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) had a tendency to develop genomic alterations and progress to malignant cells during long term in vitro culture, which may be an excellent model to understand the process of the embryonic stem cells transition. Our previous study demonstrated that increased expression ofβ-catenin and target genes such as c-myc and cyclin Dl were detected as early as the pre-neoplastic stage of tumor progression in human embryonic stem cell.
