语义联想的发散性决定了依凭一己联想进行词语推源的声训法很难避免主观随意性;而依据词义相同相关的标准又有可能把不同词义引申的殊途同归视为同族词的语义关系,或忽略概念义无关的词可能蕴涵共同的源义素。为了避免声训和词义标准带来的同族关系任意牵合或系联不足,需要对以往声训法和音义双重限制法的系联结果进行验证,尤其要加强对词语语义关系的验证。验证的重点应放在三个方面:一是非谐声关系字的义同或“义通”关系;二是谐声关系字的源义素;三是“一词二源”及有关词源义的歧见。
