Silicon carbide(SiC)is an expectant candidate of structural materials for fusion reactors after Demonstration Power Plant(DEMO).The SiC/SiC composites are considered to be used for the structural material of divertor after DEMO reactors.Tungsten will be employed as armor materials for diverter to protect the SiC constructions from the high temperature heat flux.NITE SiC/SiC composites have excellent resistance against high pressure and temperature, thus, the diffusion bonding and the sinter bonding are able to be employed for the joining of SiC/SiC composites. The W/SiC clad plates are fabricated by hot pressing method. The share strength of W/SiC diffusion bonded interface is 80 MPa or over, but the thermal conductivity characterization is not enough. The microstructure is considered to affect the contact thermal resistance of the W/SiC clad plates, and such data is very important to design a diverter of the fusion reactor in future.Present research investigates the correlation of microstructure and thermal property of clad plates produced by tungsten and SiC.
