Diverse polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinol derivatives (PPAPs) have been isolated from the genus Hypericum.PPAPs have attracted interests because of their intriguing skeletons and promising bioactivities.H.sampsonii (Guttiferae) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine to treat numerous disorders,such as backache,bums,diarrhoea,snakebites,and swellings.In Taiwan,it is also applied as an antihepatitis and antihepatoma herb.
