Treatment crossover is a frequent occurrence in clinical trials, where, during the course of the trial, patients who fail on the control treatment may crossover to the experimental treatment.Note that while we use the term crossover for this situation, it is quite different than the type of crossover trial in which subjects are randomly assigned to different treatment sequences.This phenomenon is quite common in cancer clinical trials, and occurs in clinical trials in other disease areas as well.
