As a relatively new structural performance indicator,risk has been gradually paid more attention in recent decades.Different from other commonly used structural performance indicators,such as reliability and redundancy,which mainly deal with the structure itself,risk also takes into consideration the social and economic consequences caused by structural damage or collapse.Although it is a difficult task to estimate these consequences,research on risk assessment moved gradually from qualitative toward quantitative in order to provide additional information to decision makers during risk mitigation stage.
