Aliphatic carboxylic acids are inexpensive and stable compounds. When their carboxylic acid moieties areremoved under appropriate conditions, aliphatic carboxylic acids may be converted to carbanion equivalentintermediates. Thus the use of aliphatic carboxylic acids as surrogates for aliphatic organometallics reagents is aninteresting idea for transition metal-catalyzed transformations. We recently carried out a series of studies on thecatalytic cross-coupling reactions of aliphatic carboxylic acids and obtained some preliminary findings. In the postwe will be delighted to discuss some details of our research progress.
