The rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model of a rotating planar flexible beam is established based on a mulitbody system approach. In order to investigate the large deformation of a slender beam, it is cut into several segments. In this way, the large deformation of the beam can be described as the combination of rigid body displacements and small deformation of those segments. The dynamic stiffening effect of the rotating beam is captured by taking the nonlinear second-order coupling term representing the longitudinal shrinking caused by transverse displacement of the segment into account.
