Although ethanolic extract of Alpinia oxyphylla (AOE) has displayed promising protective effects against 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced injury in PC12 cells and zebrafish dopaminergic neurons, its bioactive components have remained unknown.In this present study, we elucidated the synergistic neuroprotective effects of two polyphenols present in AOE;protocatechuic acid (PCA) enhanced the neuroprotective effect of chrysin in 6-OHDA-treated PC12 cells in vitro.
