Bridges are designed for representative vehicles according to specifications.The live load forces in the members could induce a minute but serious local relative displacement between adjoining member components.This condition could result in a significantly high magnitude of local stresses at bridge details even when the live-load-induced forces in the members are far below the fatigue strength of these members.When the local live-load stresses at a structural detail is frequently higher than the fatigue threshold of that detail,fatigue cracking could develop.
